Teresa, a single mother, spends a day at the beach with her son Benji and her sister, Marga. The day turns stressful thanks to her sister’s constant comparisons between Benji and her own son.

The Shortest Day 2024
In December 2024, A Mother Goes to the Beach (Uma Mãe Vai à Praia) was selected by Agência – Portuguese Short Film Agency and Curtas Vila do Conde – International Film Festival for the prestigious New Portuguese Shorts section, one of only four films chosen. It was showcased during The Shortest Day 2024 (O Dia Mais Curto), a nationwide event celebrating short films in Portugal, with 17 screenings across the country.

The film was screened as part of Festa do Cinema 2024, organized by the Academia Portuguesa de Cinema, and presented in multiple cinemas across Portugal, including Cinema City Alvalade (Lisbon), Cinema NOS Amoreiras (Lisbon), and NOS Parque Nascente (Gondomar), among others.
